  1. I couldn’t agree with you more. When I was a (middle class US child–in the 70s), things were far simpler. There were status items then (the beginning of Calvin Klein, and Coach) but fewer. Designer brands/goods, electronics/IT/apps, and just things, have proliferated with such rapidity. It’s a “retail therapy” or drug that fills but never satisfies. It is the antithesis of spiritual.
